Walk down to Lake Superior’s shores on the wide mowed path from the lakeside of the house to the secluded shoreline area. A small lane along the edge of the property allows you to drive down if you prefer. You can even take your canoe/kayak down and launch right from the shore. A large mowed open lawn close to the lakeshore says “come play”; you have the whole 200’ of Lake Superior frontage for your private enjoyment! Adjoining properties are privately owned and the lakeshore is not public property, so please do not trespass on neighbors’ lakeshore. There is a fire-pit and chairs down by The Lake for those evening campfires. NOTE: Because of the uneven surface of stones frequently tossed up by the Lake storms, use the lakeshore “beach” and fire-pit at your own risk. As always, use caution when walking on loose and uneven stone surfaces if venturing off the mowed lawn area.
Build a campfire, have a picnic, pitch a tent, bring and set up your favorite lawn games, hunt for agates, gaze at a trillion stars (who will spot the first shooting star?), catch the meteor showers, watch the full moon rise over the Lake...or just sit contentedly and contemplate the wonders of nature. Life is good. Brilliant sunrises, gentle waves, wildlife visitors, screeching eagles perched high in the shoreline trees, a variety of birds and even calling/dancing loons and white pelicans are all frequent sights. Living On The Big Lake offers something different every day.
And if you can drag yourself away from the close-up lure of Mother Superior there is a house too! A newly remodeled rustic coastal retreat with large floor to ceiling patio doors across the back looking out at Lake Superior. (Please be cautious as these patio doors do open but there is no step or deck adjoining the home at these doors). The home has all hardwood floors, wood burning fireplace, fully equipped open kitchen with island, TWO remodeled bathrooms, three bedrooms, deck and patio.
With this kind of unrivaled access to the Lake Superior shore, you may want to spend the entire stay reconnecting with loved ones and nature. But if you do wish to explore the area further, you are close to so much the North Shore has to offer.

George Manitou SP - 15 minutes
Silver Bay - 10 minutes- grocery store, liquor store, hardware store, Adventure Park (zip line, climbing), Black Beach, the Northwoods Grill for excellent BBQ and home cooked meals.
Beaver Bay - 15 minutes- ice cream shop, agate shop, liquor store, flea market, Lemon Wolf Cafe for that special dinner or pizza at Cove Crossings, excellent rock picking at the River and a marina.
Finland - 5 minutes- explore the swampy areas on the gravel/dirt forest backroads where the moose hide and the tundra swans can often be seen on the lakes. Enjoy a hearty breakfast or lunch at Our Place or Four Seasons in town.

Summary: House presents itself directly to the lake, which is the main draw for me. Kitchen is very functional, ample furniture, and the fire pit patio is awesome.The house added a water purifier since my last visit. That was a major upgrade and enhancement to the stay.

Summary: We arrived and had no issues checking in and gaining access to the house. The first thing we noticed was the noise of the highway. It was quite loud. As we fixed dinner the first night I found that things were not as clean as I would have preferred. There was a drawer with several hot pads in the kitchen but they were so stiff and grungy we had to wash them before we were willing to use them. Some of the kitchen drawers had crumbs in them. The cabinet under the kitchen sink would not stay closed because it was damaged. I used a wooden spoon through the handles to keep the doors from constantly swinging open into the main path throu. We discovered after filling the dishwasher that there was no dishwasher detergent in the house. A sign on the front door asked you to remove your shoes but our socks were so dirty when we got ready to go to bed we wore our shoes in the house the rest of the stay. Several things were in disrepair. The back door was missing the knob and a piece of nylon rope with a knot at each end served as the closure. A metal strip on the top deck step was very loose and several times it tripped us. The stone floor in the master bath that looked so nice in the photos was filthy and appeared to have mud in the grout. The amenities list indicated each bedroom had a fan but we never found one for the third bedroom. The beds were clean and comfortable, plenty of towels, and the outdoor spaces were lovely but I don’t believe I would recommend this unit for your stay.

Summary: The location of this property was absolutely stunning — the views were truly a highlight and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. It has a lot of potential to be a wonderful getaway spot. However, the property was let down by a number of issues that made our stay less enjoyable.There were no blinds in the bedrooms (just sheer curtains), so we were woken up very early each day with the sunrise. More concerning was the general lack of cleanliness — the space needed a deep clean, and there were bugs, cobwebs in the window screens, and visible dirt in several areas. A number of repairs were clearly overdue: the back door had no handle and the outdoor furniture was in rough shape. Additionally, the barn-style bathroom doors offered little privacy, which was uncomfortable for a shared space.With a thorough cleaning and some maintenance work, this place could be fantastic. But in its current condition, it falls short of expectations.

Summary: Very peaceful and Great yard! Let people know there is room to play croquet and bocce ball or have it for them.One thing to note was that there was no hairdryer and my hair takes a long time to dry. It does not specifically call out no hairdryer included until you see the book in the house and almost all VRBOs have them for convenience. Would have brought one had I known.Great stay!

Summary: Large private property with a huge backyard for the kids to play and a very private shoreline. The house is cozy and had everything we needed for our stay, including extra blankets for the chilly nights. Beautiful views of the lake. Perfect spot for my parents, sister and our kids to spends quality family together on the north shore.

Summary: Really enjoyed our long weekend here. Had everything we wanted: on the water, views, and privacy. The owner was very easy to work with. The property was great. And it was very close to hikes, beaches and waterfalls. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Summary: Our group of 6 friends truly enjoyed our stay at this property. Everything listed in the description was accurate. The host, Ms. Hilton, was wonderful and kind. We had clear communication throughout, and she even offered early check-in and late checkout since it was off-season and possible to accommodate.The property itself is amazing, with the highlight being the lakefront fire pit where our friends and I had a wonderful time. The first night, the view of Lake Superior under moonlight was one of the most breathtaking scenes I've seen in a long time. The house has plenty of space with a great living room perfect for gathering to play games and chat. The rooms are spacious and neat with windows providing excellent natural lighting.We did find some dog hair on one of our blankets, but this seems to have been an anomaly as everything else was exceptionally clean and tidy. There was ample parking space as well. All in all, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in a private space along Lake Superior.
